The role of a food supplement consultant

A strategic partner

From ideation to the market launch of your product, Philosophie Santé gets involved in your project as if it were its own. A food supplement consultant who thinks like a business partner, not like a supplier.

The right question

Why call on a food supplement consultant?

Three reasons come up in almost every project I am given.

Three people helping each other up a flight of steps, illustrating the operational support brought to an R&D team

Immediate operational reinforcement

Your team is overloaded and the project is stalling. I arrive with an extra pair of hands and a contact book already built, without the delay of a hire.

In practice
  • Temporary reinforcement, for the length of the peak
  • Hands-on work, not just recommendations
  • A network of suppliers and contract manufacturers available straight away
  • A faster route to market

The expertise your contract manufacturer does not have

A contract manufacturer makes your formula. Optimising its cost, choosing quality ingredients, working on the organoleptic profile and the positioning is not their job. It is mine.

In practice
  • Formula cost optimisation
  • Quality ingredients, sourced and qualified
  • Innovative actives that set the product apart
  • Positioning and marketing strategy

An outside brain plugged into your R&D

I keep a permanent watch on regulations, innovations and industrial partners. Your pipeline gets a view that does not come from inside the team. Extra neural connections for your brand.

In practice
  • Continuous regulatory watch
  • Market innovations and trends
  • An up-to-date list of industrial partners
  • An outside opinion on your pipeline

The added value of Philosophie Santé

Three things you will not find elsewhere in quite the same way.

01

An entrepreneur’s mindset

I think outside the frame and reason like the general practitioner of the food supplement. I am not simply an R&D consultant, I am a partner who picks the place where my involvement will be most useful to you.

When highly specialised expertise is needed, I act as the conductor and point you to the right person among those who work with me.

02

A speciality in sensory and innovative supplements

My real specialisation is the development of sensory food supplements. I know how ingredients taste, nutrients as well as botanical extracts, which lets me formulate across every dosage form where taste matters.

A wide European and global network

My dual French and Polish nationality opens up a network covering Western as well as Eastern Europe. I am constantly looking for new partners and new connections in the field, and you benefit from them as soon as we work together.

I am also a member of WIN, Women in Nutraceuticals, a wide nutraceutical network.

The right question

Why call on a consultant
in food supplements?

⏱️

Accelerate time to market

A consultant already knows the suppliers, the contract manufacturers and the regulatory pitfalls. What a newcomer takes 12 months to learn, a consultant delivers in 3 to 6 months. Every month saved is a competitive advantage.

💶

Reduce real costs

No fixed overheads, no hiring. An independent consultant costs less than a full-time employee, and brings expertise you will not find in-house for a first launch. They also optimise the cost price of your formula right from the design stage.

🔒

Secure every decision

The ingredient market is opaque: only 20% of botanical extracts comply with their specifications. A consultant qualifies every ingredient through HPLC analysis and a supplier visit. You launch with data, not promises.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about food supplement consulting

What is the difference between a consultant and a contract manufacturer in food supplements?

A contract manufacturer is an industrial company that makes your products in its own facilities. Its industrial expertise is real, but it is neither a technical partner nor a strategic one. It will usually offer its standard formulas and it has every interest in you using its ingredients. It will never contradict you on your formulation or your positioning, except in the case of an industrial inconsistency.

An independent consultant works for your formula and for your success. They select the best contract manufacturers and the best suppliers across the whole market, according to your needs, your budget and your constraints. They have no interest other than yours.

How much does a food supplement consulting assignment cost?

The fee depends on the scope of the assignment, targeted support such as a formula audit or one-off sourcing, or a full service from idea to launch.

I never issue a quotation before we have spoken. Every project is unique and deserves proper framing from the start, and that is the only way to offer a quotation that truly matches yours. Take 30 minutes to frame your project, and I will give you a clear estimate, with no commitment.

At what point in the project should you call on a consultant?

I say it often, the earlier the better. Ideally right from ideation, before you have contacted a single contract manufacturer. At that stage the consultant frames the product brief and avoids positioning mistakes, unsuitable dosage forms and non-compliant ingredients. Those mistakes are expensive to correct mid-development, above all in time.

I have been called in urgently a fair number of times on projects that had gone one hundred percent to a contract manufacturer. Stepping in along the way is perfectly possible, to audit an existing formula or unblock a project that is going nowhere.

How do you choose a good food supplement consultant?

Three criteria really count. Proactive communication first, because that is what moves your project forward fast. Versatility next, meaning mastering formulation, sourcing, regulations and product marketing at the same time. An entrepreneurial mind last, to understand your stakes and what awaits you after launch.

The goal is not to formulate a product for the sake of formulating, but to get it onto the market. Be wary of profiles that only practise regulatory affairs or only formulation. Food supplement consulting is a job for an expert generalist.

Am I the right profile to call on a food supplement consultant?

Startup, DNVB, pharmaceutical or cosmetic brand, Philosophie Santé works with every profile and adapts to the size of the organisation. The challenges are not the same from one project to the next, the drive I put into every engagement does not change.
